J.V. Game Results
May 20, 2005 - J.V.’s
finish their season with a close win at home over visiting Central Sq. (10 –9)
It was the way you’d want to end the season,
with the home field advantage on your side.
The score was tied at 9 to 9 with only 2 minutes
left in the game and one more goal
gave us the lead. It’s down to 35 seconds left
on the clock, we’ve got the ball, the clock runs out
and we WIN!!!
There was a lot of excitement on the field tonight. Coach Brady said the
team played
the game of their lives out there. Great game,
great teamwork and great season!
May 13, 2005 – Friday
the 13th was lucky for the J.V. team, winning 13 – 5 over host
Whitesboro
The location changed, the bus was late, then it got lost on
the way to Westmoreland Rd. Elementary,
but once the team arrived they were ready to play and ready
to win. The Whitesboro team improved
since our last meeting 5 weeks ago, but Rome has improved
too! Scoring was made by seven
different players (including first goals by Clarissa &
Alex), assists by three players and Arielle had four saves in goal. Defense had some extra coaching tips by
former R.F.A. varsity player (now St. Bonnie player) Meghan DePaul. Defense was
looking so good, that coach switched the offensive and defensive lines at the
end game. The highlight of the game (next to winning) had to be 2nd
year defensive player, Alex Carletta’s first lacrosse career goal (she’s
probably still smiling). Great game ladies, great job coach (special thanks to
Meghan too)!
May 11, 2005 – Auburn over visiting
R.F.A. (11 –1)
May 9, 2005 – J.V.
has had their revenge against visiting Watertown at the stadium tonight (12 -
3)!!!
It was a great comeback, just days after the disappointing
Thursday night loss to host Watertown.
Friday’s unscheduled practice must have been the trick, to
psyche the team for today’s game.
With a half time score of 7- 3, the JV’s were able to shut
down Watertown in the 2nd half without
a score! Three players
scored hat tricks, three players with lone goals, seven assists, active
defense (as evidenced by the 2nd half shut down),
only one yellow card (for our team) and
16 saves in goal (quite a good night)! Great Job Ladies! Now, let’s do it again in Auburn!
The J.V. team is re-energizing for the week ahead. We
experienced a little difficulty over the last
4 games with the teams from the other side of the thruway,
but that streak is coming to an end
and we’re ready for some wins. We hope to put all three of
next week’s games in our win column!
Good Luck Ladies!
May 5, 2005 – Watertown
over visiting R.F.A. 9 – 7
May 3, 2005 – F.M. over visiting R.F.A. 17 – 2
May 2, 2005 – Liverpool over
visiting R.F.A. 7 – 3
Apr. 30, 2005 – Henninger over host
R.F.A. 13 – 4
April 29, 2005 - R.F.A.
beats visiting Oswego in Overtime 8 – 7
It was unusually silent, at the end of the game with the
score tied 7-7 against the visiting Oswego team. The spectators
(and some of the players) were unsure of what happens in a
tie situation. The coaches and referees had a
brief discussion….OVERTIME!!! They gave us five minutes on the clock. Our team wanted this win.
Jessica Crumb scored the tie-breaking goal and defense was
able to contain the Oswego offense while the clock
ran out. Arielle Sanzone had 21 saves in goal! There were
smiles everywhere - Great Game Ladies!!!
Final Score RFA 8 – Oswego 7
April 28, 2005 – Host C.N.S. plays
tough against visiting R.F.A. J.V.’s -
C.N.S. 13 – R.F.A. 3
The bus was misrouted. C.N.S. had our game scheduled to
start a ˝ hour later our schedule (which helped with
the bus delay). The rain did hold off for the J.V.’s, but it
just wasn’t our day. The opponents were a tough match.
Let’s look ahead to Friday’s game against visiting Oswego.
April 25, 2005 – JV’s
win a close one over visiting ESM 9-8….
It was an exciting game at the stadium, on Monday. The
J.V.’s had a continuous battle against the visiting
East Syracuse-Minoa team.
Rome was leading, ESM was leading, the score was tied. Rain, cold,
slippery turf,
yellow cards, ground balls, missed balls, catches,
saves, it was really quite a day.
Defense, offense and
our goalie had quite a work out on the field. Everyone was
watching and waiting for the clock to run out and
it was Rome that was on top at the end of this game. Nice
work girls! (…And to the families and fans that
watched in the rain, with their umbrellas and blankets and
even those that watched through the windshield
wipers of their
cars…..thanks for being there!)
April 22, 2005 – Rome’s J.V. and Varsity split a scrimmage
with the visiting Cazenovia team (45 minutes per R.F.A. team). We weren’t keeping score, but the visitors
may have had the upper hand on this one.
We can always use a good practice.
April 15,2005 – The J.V. team suffered a disappointing 16-1
loss to the tough West Genesee visitors. Defense
and offense had a difficult time against these
opponents. The team’s spirits were
lifted with Jessica Crumb’s
lone goal of the game. The pressure was intense on our new
goalie, who managed to save 15 shots in goal
…nice job Arielle! The girls never gave up the fight!
April 12, 2005 - The J.V. team (with the help of their new
goalie Arielle Sanzone) bounced back from Thursday’s
loss with a decisive 7-2 win over host Fulton.
Unfortunately….due to some scheduling confusion (beyond our control)
the referees had to leave the J.V. game to cover the varsity
game at a different location. The coaches were
recruited to referee the end of the J.V. game, causing the
game to be classified as a scrimmage. L
April 7, 2005 - J.V. team suffered an 18-4 loss to a tough
Baldwinsville team, in the cold, rainy late afternoon
game. Defense played tough against a difficult opponent, goalie
Samantha Vetrone had an outstanding 21
saves in goal.
April 6, 2005 – The J.V. team was ready for their first
official game of the season. Our J.V. team defeated the
Whitesboro Warrior team by a score of 20-1. Rome had goals
and assists by 12 different players, with a half-time
score of 12-1. Great
way to start the season, now on to Baldwinsville! (Best wishes to Whitesboro’s new
girls lacrosse team, we’re glad to see girls lacrosse
growing in our area.)
